Swimming is fun

Yesterday we went to the swimming pool. It was cold at first, but then it was nice and warm. We put our hands on our head when we listened to Miss Martin. We practised blowing bubbles and floating with the flutter boards. We swam through the hoop. Presley's favourite part was blowing bubbles. Joshua's favourite part was when he dived through the hoop. We had lots of fun!

November update

November has been a really busy month for the Caterpillars. Whaea Susie came to visit us and taught us 'Give me five'. This shows us how to sit on the mat. The five things are- legs are crossed, hands are still, ears are listening, eyes are watching and lips are zipped. Tray helped Whaea Susie teach it to our whole class. The Caterpillars learned really quickly and now always 'give me five' on the mat.

Phaze's little brother TJ visits our class

We are working hard in maths to practice the skills and ideas we learn. Our circles group are practising ordering numbers from 0-20. The rectangles and triangles are practising their skip counting in 2's and 5's. Some of us can skip count backwards too!

In November we also performed our song 'A 'letter go go' and drumming at the musical showcase. We were very nervous but we did a great job on stage. We had fun performing and watching the other items.

Niuean language week!

Fakalofa lahi atu! This week it was Niuean language week and to celebrate we did some class weaving. We all tried really hard and did a great job at weaving with the paper.
Check out our weaving below!

Jellybeans music

We had our first two music sessions with jellybeans and Toops this week. We had so much fun exploring the different percussion instruments. We played the tambourine, drum, triangle and the castanets! We have really good rhythm and we are learning new beats.

Motat

The last day of the term had arrived and finally the Caterpillars were off to Motat with the rest of the fledglings. We travelled on a bus to Motat and our group began by looking around the museum. We saw some old technology, cars and tractors and an awesome old tram that we got to travel on over to the aviation museum. We were amazed at the planes inside the aviation museum. They were huge! We then had some fun in the wind tunnel trying to fly things. We also investigated different forces like drag and lift that help objects fly, it was a fantastic day!!
